The workshop is:
The Classical Mandolinist Overview - Left & Right Hand technique: This workshop is an overview of the techniques needed for classical mandolin repertoire & various other styles. The class will learn exercises & simple pieces that will help build left & right hand coordination, left hand dexterity & accuracy, as well as classical right hand technique. We will start in the 1700s and work our way to modern day (Leone, Calace & Strauss). The workshop will end with the ensemble learning & playing a piece together. Come learn from the 2011 Mandolin Symposium & CMSA Convention classical mandolin teacher. Chris designs his workshops to be educational and fun for all levels of playing.

BMG Summer School - Jug band music

I'm delighted to be asked back this year to run a weekend of Jug Band Music for all instruments.

This course is for banjo, mandolin, guitar, ukulele and other related instruments. Entry level is for intermediate players and above but it is also suitable for beginner improvers with a minimum of two years playing experience. Knowledge of basic chords and ability to read music will be helpful. Jug Band Music is great fun to play and material will be drawn from original blues & ragtime songs and instrumentals. There will be opportunities to sing, improvise and discover jug, kazoo and washboard playing.

Bristol Mandolin Ensemble is an opportunity for players of all abilities to meet together and play music. The music is arranged in 3 parts so players can choose the level they feel comfortable playing. The ensemble meets every fortnight on Saturdays at Horfield Methodist Church in Bristol.
