A mandolin resource
Welcome to all you wonderful musicians! Check out Dave's tip of the week on creating smooth quaver passages.
Dave is a renowned blues, choro and jazz mandolin player. He started playing mandolin in the 70's influenced by blues, ragtime and jug band music. He added Folk and Italian romantic music to his repertoire and ventured into the classical arena with the Beethoven Sonatas at Ashton Court Festival in 2002. He has played with Blues men Eddie Martin and Dave Peabody and is a regular member of the duo SMILE with Jim Reynolds.
His latest project is a quartet called "Brejeiro" playing the jazz based Samba music of Brazil called Choro.
Always eager to raise the profile of the mandolin in Britain, Dave is active with the BMG Federation dedicated to encouraging young musicians to take up the mandolin and he runs workshops at Festivals, the BMG Rally and in his home town of Bristol. He is also a regular tutor at the Sore Fingers and BMG Summer Schools.
This site is a resource for information, tutorials and contacts for mandolin players and anyone interested in the music of the mandolin. Check out the tip of the week and send your tips to be included. Enjoy your visit.
